Sunday 7 September: confined to barracks

Sadly the forecast is correct and we awake to rain. The first drops for 3 months we gather! It’s grey and uninspiring so we spend most of the day in the van reading and discussing options. The camp donkeys are roaming the field. It doesn’t really clear until about 6pm but the smell of damp eucalyptus is intoxicating and we do manage a refreshing swim and watch the sunset. It’s a still evening and a glorious full moon. We cook lemon courgette pasta and wash up by the van in moonlight like proper campers. It is very quiet.
